Camp Wallowa Campout and Hike to Lakes Basin in Eagle Cap Wilderness Area

We had seven girls join us on this fun, extended weekend trip to BSA's historic Camp Wallowa near Lake Wallowa over Labor Day weekend. We arrived late on Friday evening and set up camp in the dark near the teepee. Saturday morning two of the girls got up early to begin the final day hike for their Hiking Merit Badge while the remaining girls stayed back for shorter hikes and in camp activities. The day hike had to be 20 miles roundtrip, but in order to see one more beautiful lake, the roundtrip mileage was extended by three miles, and these girls were exhausted when they finally arrived back in camp, after a much deserved huckleberry milkshake, of course. The next day we had a beautiful Scout's own worship service in the old outdoor chapel at BSA Camp Wallowa, after which we worked on First Class rank requirements into the evening. We spent one final night and then departed Monday morning, stopping at a nice ice cream parlor in Joseph on our way back to the Tri-Cities.
